(IT-NEWSWIRE.COM, February 13, 2015 ) Dublin, Ireland -- Winter storm Marcus may affect the delivery times of products ordered via Amazon.com in affected ares. The storm which is affecting 36 million people in the northeast is the fourth named storm in the US in the past two weeks.
Winter storm Marcus has seen up to 24 inches of snow along with freezing rain in some areas. The storm has closed some schools and led to the cancellation of flights in Boston and New York.
The storm is affecting delivery times of some products ordered from Amazon.com. This is due to a combination of factors including poor road conditions and flight cancellations slowing delivery of existing Amazon.com inventory. There may even be a knock on effect after the storm abates due to the delays in incoming inventory replenishment.
Amazon customers can receive their goods either from the individual seller or directly from Amazon itself. Sellers in affected areas may have difficulty getting out to mail the products. Equally customers in affected areas may notice delays in receiving their goods until the storm abates.
Both Amazon.com and individual sellers are keeping customers updated on delivery times and any expected delays.
A niche Amazon partner company which sells house selling St. Joseph statuettes and an artbrush set apologised in advance to customers who may experience delays. Speaking from Dublin Ireland this morning a company spokeswoman wished all their customers all the best during this storm. The company does not send the goods to the customers but relies on fulfilled by Amazon. She added 'Online sales often increase during severe storms as people stay indoors and have more time that usual to shop online. Amazon is working hard to ensure minimal disruption to our valued customers at this time'
